Israel’s demand for a human king was not merely political — it was spiritual. It revealed the heart’s natural resistance to God’s authority. Though we do not stand in ancient Israel, our hearts echo the same cry: “We want to rule ourselves.” Yet God’s love remains steadfast even in our rebellion.

Ask yourself: In what area of my life am I resisting God’s rule?
